The road climbs after the city
The official Madarao timetable is around 30 minutes from Iiyama Station. By car, plan 30–40 minutes in normal conditions and more during snowfall.
Enter the exact hotel, ski-area entrance or car park in navigation. Similar names can lead to the wrong side of the resort.
Prepare in Iiyama
Fuel the car and buy supplies before climbing. Confirm winter tyres, 4WD, weather and the route recommended by your accommodation.
If your group has skis, snowboards and large suitcases, choose a car for cargo space rather than seat count alone.
Driving back down
Use a low, controlled speed and brake before corners. Evening refreezing can make the return more difficult than the outward trip.
