Reserve the seat with the car
The National Police Agency states that a driver must not carry a child under six without a child restraint, except in limited statutory circumstances. A child aged six or older may still need a suitable restraint if the vehicle belt does not fit their body correctly.
Stock, seat type and fees vary by rental provider. Confirm at the time of booking rather than assuming a suitable seat will be available on arrival.
Provide size information, not only age
Infant, child and junior seats have different ranges. Give the provider the age, height, weight and number of children, and confirm compatibility with the assigned vehicle.
A child seat also uses rear-seat width. Include strollers, suitcases and ski equipment when choosing the vehicle class.
Check installation before departure
Follow the seat instructions and check that it is secured, the harness is not twisted and the child is seated correctly. Confirm the rental provider's installation and user-responsibility terms at the counter.
